A place like no other near St. Petersburg in Florida
The Dalí Museum, located on the waterfront, houses an extensive collection of Salvador Dalí’s artwork, making it the largest outside of Europe. Not only are the masterpieces awe-inspiring, but the museum building itself is also remarkable. One notable architectural feature is the “Glass Enigma,” consisting of 1,062 glass triangles that can be seen from the exterior. Upon stepping inside, visitors will encounter a striking spiral staircase. Architect Yann Weymouth skillfully integrated these surrealist-inspired elements with practicality by constructing hurricane-resistant walls. Additionally, the museum offers a delightful labyrinth, beautiful gardens, and the legendary Fountain of Youth.
The collection offers a wide range of Dali’s Surrealist artworks. You’ll find various forms of media, including watercolors and sculptures. Notable pieces to see are “The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory” and “The Hallucinogenic Toreador.” Visitors have described the building as artistic and peculiar, just like Dalí. It’s worth noting that even people who aren’t typically interested in art have enjoyed their visit, making it an enjoyable experience for all, including children.
