One more place to enjoy near Zion National Park in Utah
The Emerald Pools in Zion National Park offer a delightful contrast to its majestic rock formations. Although the park is renowned for its towering peaks, this particular area provides a chance to witness gushing waterfalls. Situated amidst the stunning peaks and offering views of Zion Canyon, the pools are conveniently located within walking distance of Zion Lodge. These pools are formed by a stream that cascades over cliffs, creating a series of waterfalls before finally collecting in the charming pools spread throughout this picturesque part of the park.
There are three different trails that visitors can take to access the pools. The easiest one is the Lower Emerald Pool loop trail, which is approximately 1.2 miles long and has a paved path. Once on this trail, hikers can continue to the Upper Emerald Pool trail. Another option is the Middle Emerald Pools Trail, a 2.2-mile unpaved trail with a moderate level of difficulty due to a steep climb of 150 feet. From the Middle Emerald Pools Trail, there is a 1-mile trail called the Upper Emerald Pools Trail, which branches off and has an elevation gain of 200 feet. It is recommended to visit the Emerald Pools during the spring season when the snow from winter melts, resulting in more impressive waterfall flow.
