The Battery

At the southern tip of Manhattan Island lies a beautiful park called The Battery, also known as Battery Park. Spread across 25 acres, this green oasis provides a refreshing escape from the urban landscape of lower Manhattan. Its name derives from the historical artillery batteries that once safeguarded the settlement during the 17th century. Visitors flock to this park for its stunning vistas of the harbor and the iconic Statue of Liberty.

One of the main attractions in the park is the SeaGlass Carousel, a one-of-a-kind carousel where you can hop on iridescent fish and embark on a thrilling aquatic journey. The carousel’s mesmerizing design, inspired by bioluminescence, pays tribute to the park’s waterfront location and the historic Castle Clinton, which used to be an aquarium. In addition to the carousel, the park features beautiful perennial gardens, convenient bike paths, expansive lawns, and even an urban farm.
