John Denver Sanctuary

John Denver, the renowned singer-songwriter, had a deep admiration for Aspen, and he depicted the town’s charm and essence in numerous songs like his well-known “Aspenglow.” To honor this beloved musician, who passed away in 1997, Aspen created the John Denver Sanctuary. Situated close to the Aspen Art Museum in Rio Grande Park, by the Roaring Fork River, this memorial features multiple stone slabs engraved with John Denver’s name and selected lyrics from his songs.

If you’re not necessarily a big fan of Denver, don’t worry! Previous visitors highly recommend paying a visit to this place. They were really impressed by the stunning flower garden and the remarkable river boulders with inscriptions. Additionally, many people mentioned that it’s a fantastic spot for a picnic.
