Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom is an amusement and water park located in Dorneyville, Pennsylvania, just outside Allentown. The park is owned and operated by Six Flags and spans 200 acres, making it one of the largest entertainment destinations in the Lehigh Valley. Founded in 1884, Dorney Park is the fifth-oldest amusement park in continuous operation in the nation and one of only fourteen trolley parks still operating in the United States today.
The park is home to some of the world’s most prominent roller coasters. Steel Force is the ninth-longest steel roller coaster in the world and the second-longest on the U.S. East Coast, offering riders a massive 4,400 feet of track and a thrilling 60-degree drop. The coaster Thunderhawk is the oldest ride at the park, having opened in 1923 and still delighting riders with its classic intensity.
Wildwater Kingdom, the park’s dedicated water park section, features 26 water slides, including body slides, tube slides, and a massive wave pool. The park operates from May through October each year, with peak attendance during the summer months when both the amusement rides and water park are fully operational. The addition of Wildwater Kingdom in 1985 transformed Dorney Park into a dual-park destination, giving families a combined experience that ranks among the most popular in the Northeast.
