Lake Travis

Enjoy it while visiting Austin in Texas

Lake Travis

Everything’s bigger in Texas, and that includes its lakes. Take Lake Travis, for example. Stretching nearly 64 miles long and surrounded by a staggering 271 miles of shoreline, it’s truly a sight to behold. To really grasp the scale, just swing by Mansfield Dam, which was built to create Lake Travis while taming the mighty Colorado River. Once you’ve marveled at the dam, make your way to Mansfield Dam Park. From there, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the lake and engage in activities like picnicking, swimming, and even scuba diving. There are also numerous other parks along the lake, offering a variety of amenities such as picnic tables, hiking trails, and water sports. It’s worth noting that Hippie Hollow Park is a unique spot where clothing is optional, but access is limited to those who are 18 years or older. For travelers who want to savor the beauty of the lake with a refreshing drink in hand, The Oasis on Lake Travis is a must-visit. Perched above the waters, it proudly proclaims itself as the “Sunset Capital of Texas.”

When visitors went to the lake recently, they had a great time, especially when they watched the beautiful sunset. It didn’t really matter which park they chose because most of them had nice beaches and useful facilities. Some people suggested wearing water shoes to prevent slipping on the rocks that can be slippery and sharp.
